In a fairy tale called Brooklyn, I am in a field of dreams pondering how I can reclaim it for myself once more – make it home again. When you’ve been in a place almost your whole life, that’s changing drastically, you tend to take for granted what makes it special.
Many of my friends speak of relocating outside of this city and have made the leap already.
“It’s too expensive. I’m over it. Too stressful. Overrated. Overpopulated. Underwhelming. In need of new experiences. Just not for me.”
I respect it and encourage it. Just know I’m coming to visit. I will get to know your coach bed or air mattress very well.
I plan to make that move too. It’s still BROOKLYN TO THE WORLD. But I will be doing things in my own way and in my own time. I love to explore but not sure if any place speaks to me more than here and now. This is where I want to be.
So going forward, I’m choosing to see New York with new eyes. Perspective is everything. There are many odds, but this place has much to offer to me and I to it. I got plans y’all! No longer am I aimlessly floating or jaded from the same ol’ same. So cheers to the movements and wherever they may take us. And let us always get HOME safely.
